The Catron County Historical Society, founded in January of 2008, is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to preserve, present, educate, and inform by increasing the knowledge of Catron County history through outings, programs, oral history interviews, and a compilation of books pertaining to Catron County.

We are in the process of developing a museum and visitor center, continuing with an oral history library and book library.

The future of the CCHS is with the members and volunteers who help to preserve the history of Catron County.

The board members of the CCHS are grateful to all the CCHS members for understanding that we have discontinued all activities for the duration of the year 2020, due to fear of spreading the Covid-19 virus. It has been a difficult and unpredictable event that has come upon us. We want to assure all members that we will be back as soon as we feel safe to return. We will provide a free membership for all 2020 members when that time comes because we only provided two programs in 2020 before we closed down. We certainly value each and every member and hope it will not be long before we can return. Thank you for your understanding.
